School's out and we are pleased to be hosting some school holiday wheel throwing classes for kids and teens this summer!

Sessions are 1.5 hours long and each child gets 3 x balls of clay to use. It's important to know that things don't always go to plan on the pottery wheel and it might take couple of goes to get the hang of things. That's why we give you 3 tries!

After getting messy on the wheels, each child needs to choose their 1 favourite piece to keep. There's a little time to decorate with colour and texture, and then you need to leave the items with us at the studio to complete the glazing and firing process. It takes 3-4 weeks before the pieces are ready so you'll need to come back and pick up your creations in September.

Age & ability

We recommend wheel classes for ages 8+ and all children need to have a supervising adult present for the session. Parents/guardians of children aged 12+ can sit back with a coffee as long as you stay in the studio. Parents/guardians of children aged 8-12 may need to be more hands-on and provide more assistance at the wheels. 

Children younger than 8 do find the process more difficult due to the strength and coordination needed to control both the clay and the wheel pedal. However, we do understand that every child is different and sometimes younger siblings want to join in too! While we recommend wheel classes for ages 8+, we're happy for parents or guardians to make an informed decision about whether their younger child is likely to enjoy and manage the experience.

If you don't live in Manchester we can post finished pieces out to you for an additional £5. Extra pieces can also be kept for £3 per pot, both payable on the day of the workshop.
