3 hour session
Hand-building & wheel throwing
Nibbles & 1 glass Prosecco included
Our Pottery Party happens once a month! It's a BYOB, social pottery workshop, where you can try both core techniques of working with clay - wheel throwing & hand-building. We'll also show you around the studio and explain a little about the ins and outs of making pottery, with snacks and a glass of Prosecco or soft drink on arrival all included in your booking price! You are welcome to BYOB if you'd like something more.
There will be a maximum of 10 guests at the workshop, and we'll split you into two groups to try each activity. You'll have a teacher dedicated to guiding your group through each activity, so don't worry if you've never touched clay before.
At the end of the class, you'll be able to choose your 2 favourite pieces to be glazed and fired. You'll need to come back and pick these up 3-4 weeks after the class finishes. If you don't live in Manchester, we can arrange postage for an additional fee on the day.
Runs monthly, on a Friday night or Saturday afternoon
Frequently asked questions
What shall I bring?
It's best to wear clothes you don't mind getting messy, tie long hair back and have short nails. We'll provide aprons and all tools and equipment. We also have a spacious bathroom if you'd prefer to get changed before or after.
What can we make?
Wheel throwing is harder than it looks. We'll show you how to make small items like bowls, mini vases or cups. In your first ever wheel session we don't recommend coming with set ideas as to what you'd like to make, just be prepared to go with the flow, be challenged, get your hands dirty and have some fun!
Do we get to glaze our pieces?
No. In one-off sessions all the finishing and glazing of your work is done by our team. This is because these steps need to be completed a couple of weeks after making. In most cases you'll be able to choose your glaze colour before you leave the studio. If you'd like to learn all steps of the process, please take a look at our courses.
Can we take home items on the day?
No. You'll need to leave them with us to glaze and fire, which takes 3-4 weeks. We'll let you know when they are ready to pick up, or we can post items out to you for £5.
Is it suitable for teens?
This class is great for ages 14+, it makes a great activity for a teen and an adult to try together. Younger children are better suited to our child specific classes which run in the school holidays.
What's the cancellation policy?
We require 14 days notice to refund or reschedule your booking.
Where less than 14 -3 days notice is provided, we will provide you with a refund if we are able to re-sell your spot. Where less than 3 days is given, we do not provide refunds.
Is there parking?
Onsite parking is also available but it is charged at £6, cash only. You can find cheaper and and free parking on Higher Ardwick at weekends, at Powerleague and on Union Street and Temperance Street. Please allow time to find parking so we can start the workshop promptly.
